Wellell Inc. Chairman Daniel Lee was recently featured in a CNN Business special report , “This Island in the Pacific Ocean Is Shaping the Future of Global Sports and Health,” produced by CNN in partnership with Taiwan Excellence, TAITRA ’s global brand initiative.
The feature explores how Taiwan’s strengths in ICT, semiconductors, and clinical data infrastructure are laying the foundation for next-generation healthcare innovation.
Speaking as former Chairman of the Taiwan Medical and Biotech Industry Association, Daniel Lee noted that Taiwan’s medical industry has one core strength — computing power, citing the National Health Insurance database, which covers over 99.6% of Taiwan’s population, and more than two decades of longitudinal health records that provide the depth needed to train and validate AI models for clinical use. Across the island, 23 medical centers are unifying electronic health records on a national cloud platform, creating a large-scale environment for developing and validating clinical AI applications.
